This weekend, Gorilla VS. Bear premiered the new White Hinterland video for “No Logic,” directed by Solomon Chase. It was filmed on a Spring evening in the woods of North Carolina. Shot in infrared, the video is a stunning black and white interplay that reveals Casey Dienel and Shawn Creeden amidst wandering forest creatures of the night. Its eerie, enigmatic and electrifying! But you really just gotta see for yourself.
White Hinterland are playing at Holocene for Portland’s MusicfestNW on September 10th. You can buy your tickets right here!
During her many interviews for the recent release of Kairos, White Hinterland’s Casey Dienel often sang the praises of her contemporaries at the edges of bedroom electro-pop (see: Toro Y Moi, Beach House). Her recent take on Neon Indians’ “6669 (I don’t know if you know)” is a bit more dark and sinuous than anything we’ve heard from that circle of artists, and perhaps more in line with the gritty, minimal dubstep of Pantha du Prince. “Decidedly unchillwave,” declared Gorilla vs. Bear in their recent post of the track. We agree. The disco spirit of the original remains, but dipped in some serious, gooey mysteriousness.
Portlanders, the next live appearance from White Hinterland will be Saturday, July 25 at PDX’s Doug Fir, sharing a stage with Bear In Heaven and Twin Sister. THAT’S a solid bill, ye music fans.
