You may have seen A$AP Rocky freestyling over Nurses’ “You Lookin’ Twice”on an episode of Pitchfork’s hip-hop show, “Selector.” It took no time for the infectious beats to lure in A$AP and crew for an impromptu creation. If you didn’t catch it the first time around, no worries; you can download the song for free as part of Selector Mixtape Vol. 1. The mixtape also includes tracks from Big Boi, Das Racist, and more, who all sampled indie artists previously on the show. Download the mixtape HERE.
Nurses are moving full speed ahead and luckily for us, with no stopping point in sight. Just as they are wrapping up a Southeast tour with the Mountain Goats, comes the awesome opportunity to tour with fellow hometown band, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks. Beginning in the second half of February, Nurses will play eleven shows throughout the other half of the country. Thus far, Nurses’ shows have received some stellar reviews. In response to their Kilby Court performance, Slug Magazine writes,“There was not a single pocket of silence to be found in the background of any of the songs during the gig and it left me enthralled, to say the least. The band finished up with “Technicolor,” the biggest hit off of their previous album and left even a few people dancing arythmically long after it was over.” See for yourself! Nurses popped in on Relix for this lovely session on a roof in a boiler room, featuring their song “Wouldn’t Tell.” The trippy threesome will be playing a bunch of US dates in the new year, including a bunch with the Mountain Goats. Enjoy the video and check them out live in the new year!
When Nurses were in New York City this fall, they filmed a session with Hooves on the Turf, who captured stunning stripped down renditions of “New Feelings” and “Trying to Reach You.” The essence of the band’s unique approach to songcraft really shines in this clip.
Following a New Year’s Eve show at Mississippi Studios in their hometown of Portland, OR Nurses will head for warmer pastures touring with The Mountain Goats at shows throughout the southern United States. Check out the tour dates right HERE.
